Martine Douma
After finishing four years of education in tailoring, I started my career in 1995 in the atelier of NDT in The Hague, Holland. I worked there for almost 6 years and made costumes for Jiri Kyliàn, Hans van Manen, Ohad Naharin, Léon Lightfoot and many others. After that I worked 2 years for Het Nationale Ballet in Amsterdam before I started my own business in 2002 as a freelance costumemaker.
In the last 20 years I have been working for a lot of different companies but mostly ballet costumes. I specialized in Lycra and my main client is Het Nationale Ballet where I make costumes for George Balanchine, Ted Brandsen, David Dawson, Hans van Manen, William Forsythe and many others.
