Professional etiquette to show hair and makeup artist are knowledgeable about Black, Asian, Minority and Ethnic(BAME*) skin tone and Afro hair.
Break down of Afro hair structure.
Hairdressing tools essentials for working with Afro hair.
Hair and makeup product knowledge and recommendations.
How to prepare various Afro hairstyle techniques.
Knowledge and maintenance on; Natural Afro hair textures, Weft extensions,Cornrow, Locs,Chemical treated hair (Relaxed hair), Wig prep and Male grooming.
Understanding colour effects and tones for BAME skin tones.
How different products effects BAME skin and awareness of skin.
Colour correcting and pigmentation.
Colour knowledge for period makeup that compliment BAME skin-tones.
Materials and equipment required
This 3 day course is aimed at professional Hair and Makeup Artist that work Darker skin-tones and Afro hair in the performing arts. The course has been developed in partnership with Prøverommet .
Below is the ideal kit list that we recommend you bring with you.
The most important items are your hair kit and makeup kit with all of your :
Combs & Brushes
All your hair electrical (hot rollers, hot sticks, tongs, hairdryer…
Makeup brushes /sponges and tools
Makeup kit for all tones
Airbrush machine ( if you can airbrush)
Male grooming kit.
Please do not worry if you don’t have any makeup for dark skin tone or hair products for Afro hair, I will bring them for you to use ( but bring what you have so that I can advice you on what you have and what you need.)
Kamanza ber hver og en av dere ta med en modell som dere kan bytte på å jobbe med. Modellenes hudtoner kan ha variasjoner fra lys til mørk, kvinne eller mann.
Kursets varighet 3 dager, 26.-28.april og avholdes på engelsk.
Tid fredag: 15:00-21:00, lør. og søndag 9:00-16:00
Kamanza Amihyia is a professional Hair and Media Makeup artist and an educator at Pinewood studios Creative Media Skills, English National Opera House, BECTU, Gothenburge Opera House, Hollyoaks TV and Peter King Academy (Bath Academy of Media Make-up) in Bath. As well as having global celebrity clientele Kamanza has over 20 years experience in the creative industry. She is originally trained in fashion design and illustrations from the prestigious London College of Fashion and then went on to train in Media Make-up and hair. Kamanza’s specialised skill’s area are in European and Afro hair and working across all skin tones and ethnicities, teaching to professional Make-up and Hair artist in the performing arts, TV, film, commercial, college and school students. Over the years Kamanza has worked in television,film , TV , music, fashion editorial/shows, entertainments, sports and has been able to tour all over the world with her celebrity and corporate clients.
